Quantum Holistic Health Lifestyle

It is likely for someone to know of another that has been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and/or cancer. Most of the population at large is suffering quietly from many other forms of Pharma-labelled diseases. These diseases are increasing at an alarming rate and the health care systems put in place are having a hard time catching up.

When I was in my early thirties, I had hypertension. As fate would have it, I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic a few years later. Sure enough, my diagnosis became more real than anything else and I had become a Type 2 diabetic (based on the number which had been modified downwards several times by the conventional medical authorities!).

According to the Body Mass Index (BMI) scale, I was only a little overweight. I was on drug medications, and whenever I asked for diet advice from the doctors I consulted, some would refer me to a dietitian or nutritionist, and the others would simply keep mum.

Over the years, my condition only deteriorated despite my faithful adherence to doctors’ advice and religious use of prescribed medication. Eventually, several doctors even advised me to use insulin injections. I refused, and as my health condition continued to deteriorate as well as my memory, I decided to take matters into my own hands and conduct my own research on healthy diet, mental health and Type 2 diabetes with the end goal of finding a natural cure for it.

The wealth of information I found about proper diet was vast and often conflicting. I tried calorie-counting, low-carb high-fat (LCHF) diets, and high-carb low-fat (HCLF) diets as instructed as well as in various other versions. After two years of trial-and-error, I ended up being a HFLC flexitarian, although my diet was 80% plant-based. Interestingly enough, I eventually became a 100% raw vegan for about two years, but am now a believer in the High-fat Low Carb diet.

I also cut down on sugar, apart from high carbohydrate foods, but was still consuming some processed canned foods. I did start to see a drop of 2 kilograms in that particular month, largely due to reduced sugar in my diet and my avoidance of high carbohydrate foods.

At 75 kilograms, I was afraid of putting on more weight, so I started cutting down fat intake too, mistakenly thinking that consuming dietary fat would make me fat.; this is based on advice given by every official “healthcare professional.”

I soon learned that the macronutrients (carbohydrate, fat and protein) are not evenly distributed in every food. A lower fat percentage in one food meant that the food in question contained a higher percentage of carbohydrates and/or protein. While proteins are supposed to be better for one’s health than carbohydrates (carbs), it is not always possible to find foods containing the desired dietary protein proportion, especially in plant-based foods.

As for animal-based proteins, which are rapidly absorbed into the blood stream and quickly metabolized, excessive intake runs the risk of protein toxicity when the body is unable to rid itself of the potentially toxic wastes generated from protein metabolism.

Unhealthy High-Carbs Diet

High carbohydrate diets are also unhealthy—especially, if it is of simple carbs. We are primarily talking about carbs which are already very close to being in the digested form.

With their digestion, they quickly pass into your bloodstream, causing an almost immediate spike in blood sugar level—and a spike in your risk of diabetes, heart diseases, hypertension and insulin resistance.  Simple carbs are foods like sugar, white bread, pizza dough, potatoes (especially the fries), white flour pasta, burger buns, breadcrumbs on fried chicken, white rice, cookies and biscuits.

Complex carbs, on the other hand, are found to be vitally needed by the body—like fruits (caution on high Glycemic Index (GI)fruits and in juice forms), legumes, vegetables (caution on starchy vegetables such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, pumpkin).

Consumed in their natural and unprocessed form, they tend to have a lower glycemic index (GI) and are healthier due to their slower digestion rate. The presence of dietary fiber in complex carbs means they are generally low in calories.

Additionally, I found that complex carbs tend to keep me satiated for longer periods of time and, hence, reduce my urging desire for empty calories (the simple carbs). Complex-carb-containing foods are also rich in various phytonutrients, minerals and vitamins which are great for the maintenance of overall good health.

Nevertheless, I found that things are not so straight forward. Not only is everyone unique, but anyone who wishes to embark on a diet plan requiring high complex carbohydrate intake must first be aware of their prevailing health status.

The already obese person, pre-diabetics, diabetics and cancer sufferers, for example, must abstain from high glycemic index (GI) fruits (especially in juice form) and starchy vegetables or keep their intake very low. Otherwise, their condition will get worse; you’ll see weight gain, more blood sugar spikes and insulin spikes.

Moreover, cancer cells love anything sweet as it provides them with quick energy to grow and multiply! Thus, I do not endorse some suggestions by “professionals” that eating lots of fruits (which readily makes available the fructose to cancer cells) is good so that the cancer cells would not steal sugar from normal cells. By taking in a lot of fruit sugars, the resulting exponential growth of cancer cells would more readily wipe out the normal cells with no mercy!

I have gone through all these yoyo trial-and-error encounters myself before really knowing what is what.
I was convinced that Low-fat/High-carb meals are the actual culprit of amassing visceral fat inside our tummies.

The food industry’s competition is based NOT on how good and swift their food chemists could develop healthier foods, BUT much tastier foods (irrespective of any harm they will do to your health) to lure your taste-buds and to get you addicted! This phrase quoted by an anonymous person since the 1930s, has caught on for decades. Till this day (although with a few evolved variations) it still rings so true: “A Moment on the Lips, A Lifetime on the Hips!”

What Scientific Evidence Shows

Further research found scientific evidence suggesting that “too much fat within the liver and pancreas prevents normal insulin action and prevents normal insulin secretion”, which are basic mechanisms whose hindrance leads to type 2 diabetes.

Over years of reading and analyzing a broad range of scientific papers, hands-on trial-and-error with my own and my friends’ weight-loss successes/failures, I have found that the LCHF diet and complete avoidance of foods high in simple carbohydrates (in particular, white sugar and white bread) and moderate intake of starchy vegetables was the best course of action for not only myself but other people hoping to battle against their overweight state, obesity, diabetes and cancer conditions.

I am now free of diabetes and free of pharmaceutical drugs. I was able to go from being seventy-seven kilograms three years ago, to sixty kilograms today, plus a fit, ripped body of 40” X 28” X 33”!

The abundant scientific evidence I found describing the relationship between mind and brain health, obesity, type 2 diabetes, cancer and diet, and evidence that healthy diets and several other available Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) modalities (NOT the high-cost chemotherapies and cancer drugs) could even help shrink cancer tumours speedily, if not reverse cancer, has energized me with the strength, determination and commitment to conduct these helpful courses, which aim to help others improve brain health and memory, reverse obesity, and treat type 2 diabetes and cancer with a plant-based diet based on Quantum Principles—that is Energy Medicine!
